Going green safely with solar panels and PVStop

  • 10 Sep 2025

As part of our ongoing sustainability journey, COSEM Safety & Security Services has taken a bold step forward by installing solar photovoltaic (PV) panels at our Gul office. This milestone not only marks our commitment to greener operations, but also allows us to reinforce our commitment to the community and the world.

While solar panels are a crucial part of a cleaner energy future, they also introduce new fire safety considerations—especially when mounted on rooftops. Fires involving PV systems are rare but can be challenging to manage due to live DC electricity, limited access, and unique suppression needs.

To complement our sustainable upgrades and to support the wider industry, COSEM is proud to be a distributor of PVStop.

PVStop is a coating that instantly coats the surface of a solar panel, blocking light and “switching off” the solar panel system in seconds rendering it safe from electricity which is something no traditional extinguisher can do.

The spray-on application makes it easy to deploy by trained personnel or first responders and is environmentally safe and removable. Being non-conductive and non-corrosive, PVStop is safe for use on live systems.

At COSEM, we believe sustainability and safety must go hand in hand.
Our solar installation is one of many initiatives under our “Greening Our Path” pillar—minimising our environmental footprint while maintaining operational excellence.

Of course, beyond internal efforts, COSEM is also here to support clients, facility managers, and safety professionals who are navigating through the use of solar technology.

Go green safely with the integration of PVStop in your risk management plan.
